Dhaba Style dal fry

Dal fry is a delicious Indian dish made with lentils, herbs and spices. It is a comfort side dish and super easy to make.

Step by step recipe:

  • Take 1 cup toor dal and ½ cup channa dal in pressure cooker and wash it well with water.
  • Add ½ jug water to pressure cooker with ½ tsp methi seeds, 1 chopped tomato,1 tsp turmeric powder, 1tsp salt, 1 pinch hing, ½ tsp crushed black pepper and ½ tsp oil. Cover the lid of pressure cooker..
  • Wait till 2-3 whistles.
  • in a pan heat 2-3 tsp oil, add ½ tsp cumin,1 tsp butter, stire fry
  • Add 2-3 chopped garlic, 2 chopped chilies,1 chopped onion. Stire fry.
  • Add 1 inch of cinnamon stick, 1-2 dry red chili, sauté
  • Add 1tsp red chili powder. Now add boiled dal, add chopped coriander leaves and let it boil it for 2 minutes.
  • Dal fry is ready to serve with Rice or roti.

Ingredients:

  • Toor dal 1 cup
  • Channa dal ½ cup
  • Onion 1 chopped
  • Tomato 1 chopped
  • Coriander leaves handul
  • Green chili 2 chopped
  • Garlic cloves 2-3
  • Cumin 1 tsp
  • Butter 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Black pepper ½ tsp
  • Cinnamon 1 inch stick
  • Oil 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds 1 tsp
